Syldrari Words and Phrases

• fis – the equivalent of ‘go.’
• ludrán – the candy that Xilen’s daughter makes.
• Vilam n~t bukairda – “I am an ally, are you injured?”
• taruc – an archaic derogatory term that implies a sexless, chaste guard who is limited in how they can serve their queen.
• jihgsar – a bright blue meat that the Syldrari eat. It’s probably the closest thing Syldrari have to beef—and that’s only because of how they prepare it.
• kuhir-dal – the Syldrari word for what Elara refers to as ‘the feral.’
• graekstidat – One of the nasty ocean creatures on Syldra.
• strigaella – Human woman
• vlerst – a small carnivorous fish on Syldra. Casair calls Aldiner, “vlerst bait” to imply he can’t hold his own against even tiny prey.
• Jiirst~nil – Syldrari drink.
• Yir~stryta – term of endearment, “little soldier”
• Dy’zglit – counter-toxin
• Tyhtor – counter-toxin
• Sviirti – Derogatory word used for outsiders.
• nyndsh~r – Sal’aphel’s species
• Glusyx – an aquatic shelled creature. “Shelless glusyx” is used to refer to someone who is sulking, hiding, or acting cowardly while looking for a new “shell.”
• Lun’ithero – breeding male
• Lun’itheroi – breeing male plural
• Lun’mosurl – husband who is part of the court
• Therys-shyerr – The name of Lynir’s designer clothing boutique.
• Syezei – a citrusy Syldrari fruit that grows in Syldra’s deep trenches. Elara’s favorite ludran flavor.
• Jalan-ki – a ‘queen who rules and oversees the Tower of Celestial Houses’
• I’jahlti – Syldra currency. Carved from abalone-like shells, shaped like leaf.
• trikar!xi – household leader
• Salaith-daiyr – formal term of endearment for a female combatant

• Sen’iri – Intersex presenting female
• Sol’iri – Intersex presenting male
• Anad’iri – Presenting male with female genitals
• Sora’iri – Presenting female with male genitals

• Vir’ildrod – sex-neutral pronoun for children
